Insight Director
Based in St Albans
Role Purpose
-
As an Insight Director at ABA you will provide leadership for a significant proportion of ABA’s Insight team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, high-quality market research for our clients.

Accountable for building client plans and supporting business development activities, you will also look for opportunities to grow revenues amongst the existing client base.

Beyond this, a key part of this challenging role involves working alongside our other 2 Insight Directors, acting as a role model for Insight professionals generally within ABA; setting high standards and identifying areas where profitability can be improved via more effective working practices and better knowledge sharing.

Finally, as part of the Senior Leadership Team, we expect our Insight Directors to continually look for ways to build proactive relationships with other teams in the ABA family - from the Field and Data teams through to Marketing, Finance and HR.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Commercial planning – works alongside the Founder and FD to define the annual revenue goals for each ABA Insight Team and helps to formulate the strategy for growth

Commercial acumen – consistently guides their team to deliver high-impact, strategic yet tangible outputs that set out clear, commercially effective next steps for clients

Business development – maintains a consistent trajectory of growth, assisting the Business Development Director by continually identifying new opportunities in the market and converting these via active involvement in the proposal and pitch process

Client planning – ensures strong relationships are maintained across key clients – taking responsibility for the overall relationship on key accounts

Research rigour – ensuring ABA produces high-quality insight based on sound methodologies and seeing that appropriate quality procedures are followed across the team

Brilliant thinking – willing to challenge the norms and look for new ways to produce better deliverables for our clients or to drive efficiencies on accounts

Best practice and quality standards – leads the way on defining expected standards, putting in appropriate frameworks for training, knowledge sharing etc. – also having ultimate responsibility for appropriate processes for quality control

Resource allocation – puts in place appropriate frameworks to ensure the effective allocation of insight resource across accounts, whilst also making sure appropriate resource is allocated to drive marketing and innovation activity

Team Leadership – works with the HR Director to ensure clear processes are in place for retention, vacancies, succession planning, promotions and talent management

Talent and performance management – effectively line manage the cluster team to ensure that clear objectives, development and succession plans are in place across the team

Critical Experience and Knowledge

An experienced research professional with a proven track-record of having led large research teams, either agency or client-side, at Director level
-
Strong relationship builder who’s able to interact with senior client stakeholders

Strong team leader with experience of both coaching and mentoring leadership styles
-
Great role model – sets the standard for ABA, ensuring exceptional quality deliverables at all stages of the research process, whilst also challenging the team to deliver the same

A strong industry profile would also be a significant advantage e.g. a presence within key industry bodies, helping to represent ABA and also steer research thinking

Competitive starting salary up to 75K plus bonuses depending on level and experience
